Audit Reveals Rs3.58 Billion Irregularities in 14 KP Departments
The report also identified excess payments exceeding Rs908.1 million in development and construction projects, alongside unauthorised expenditures amounting to more than Rs600 million.
An audit report has revealed financial irregularities and questionable expenditures exceeding Rs3.58 billion across 14 government departments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) administration.
According to the audit findings, contracts worth more than Rs1.205 billion were approved through questionable and non-transparent procedures, raising concerns over compliance with financial regulations and procurement rules.
The report also identified excess payments exceeding Rs908.1 million in development and construction projects, alongside unauthorised expenditures amounting to more than Rs600 million.
Furthermore, financial losses exceeding Rs378.5 million were reported due to the failure of government departments to take action against contractors who violated contractual agreements.
The findings emerged during the first phase of the compliance audit for the financial year 2024–25, which examined adherence to financial rules, regulations and administrative procedures.
Out of 28 Principal Accounting Officers (PAOs) selected for audit, 14 administrative departments were examined during the initial phase.
The report also confirmed that Rs117.009 million was recovered between January and December 2025, with audit authorities verifying the recoveries.
The findings raise questions about financial oversight, transparency in contract approvals and accountability mechanisms within government departments during the PTI administration.
The audit observations identify financial irregularities and potential losses but do not, by themselves, establish criminal wrongdoing.
