Electricity consumers in Pakistan are set to face an additional financial burden after the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority approved an increase of Rs2.58 per unit. The adjustment includes a Rs2.06 per-unit fuel cost adjustment, while a separate quarterly charge of 52 paisa per unit will continue through November.

The increase comes as businesses and households continue to face pressure from high energy costs. Industry representatives have repeatedly warned that expensive electricity is affecting production, exports and overall economic activity.
