Security forces killed five terrorists and rescued 23 people who had been abducted for ransom during an operation near Kalat on the Chaman-Karachi Highway, the military’s media wing ISPR said on Sunday.

Security forces on the night of September 18–19 foiled an attempt by terrorists belonging to Fitna al Hindustan to disrupt the peaceful movement of people along the Pakistan Highway (N-25) near Kalat by establishing a check post for abduction for ransom, extortion and snatching of vehicles.

The security forces responded immediately and, following an intense exchange of fire, killed five terrorists belonging to what ISPR described as an Indian-sponsored proxy of Fitna al Hindustan.

The forces also recovered 23 abductees from the terrorists’ hideout.

During the operation, security forces recovered six trucks, three buses and two cars, along with a large quantity of weapons, ammunition and explosives, according to ISPR.

The successful operation thwarted what the military described as the terrorists’ attempt to disrupt the movement of people along the vital national highway.

Sanitisation operations are continuing in the surrounding areas to eliminate any remaining terrorists and ensure the safety and security of the local population and the national highway, ISPR said.

The military said the counter-terrorism campaign under “Azm-e-Istehkam,” approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, would continue with full resolve.

Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies remain committed to eliminating what it described as the menace of foreign-sponsored and foreign-supported terrorism from the country.
