Pakistan Navy’s newly inducted submarine PNS/M Hangor has successfully conducted its maiden live weapon firing in the North Arabian Sea, accurately engaging a designated long-range target with an anti-ship cruise missile, the military’s media wing said on Sunday.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on September 27, the firing marked a major demonstration of the submarine’s operational readiness and combat capability.

Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf witnessed the live firing and praised the submarine’s combat power.

He emphasised the strategic importance of strengthening Pakistan Navy’s subsurface capabilities to maintain what the military described as credible maritime deterrence.

The ISPR said the successful firing underscored the Pakistan Navy’s commitment to maintaining a modern and combat-ready force capable of safeguarding the country’s maritime frontiers and contributing to regional peace.
