Saudi Arabia Eases Family Visa Rules for Skilled Foreign Workers
According to SPA, eligible dependents include spouses, sons under the age of 25 and unmarried daughters.
Saudi Arabia has announced a new facility allowing skilled foreign workers to process family entry visas alongside their work visa applications, making it easier for eligible expatriates to relocate to the Kingdom with their families.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the initiative has been introduced through cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development as part of efforts to streamline visa procedures for skilled international workers.
Under the new arrangement, eligible foreign workers can initiate visa procedures for their dependents while completing their own work visa formalities, eliminating the need to wait until after their arrival in Saudi Arabia to begin the family entry visa process.
Who Is Eligible for the New Family Visa Facility?
According to SPA, eligible dependents include spouses, sons under the age of 25 and unmarried daughters.
These family members can obtain their entry visas alongside the principal applicant’s work visa processing, subject to the applicable requirements.
The initiative is intended to simplify relocation procedures for skilled expatriate workers and their families.
Residence Procedures After Arrival in Saudi Arabia
Once the workers and their eligible dependents arrive in Saudi Arabia, their residency formalities will be completed in accordance with the Kingdom’s existing laws and regulations.
The new arrangement facilitates simultaneous visa processing but does not eliminate the legal requirements governing residence permits and dependent sponsorship.
The development is particularly relevant to international professionals seeking employment opportunities in Saudi Arabia, including skilled workers from Pakistan and other countries with significant expatriate communities in the Kingdom.
The initiative also reflects Saudi Arabia’s broader efforts to improve administrative procedures for attracting skilled international talent.
