Saudi Crown Prince to Deliver Annual Royal Address to Shura Council
the annual address reflects the Saudi leadership’s attention to the council and its role in the Kingdom’s national development.
Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman will deliver the annual Royal Address on Wednesday on behalf of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, marking the opening of the third year of the Shura Council’s ninth session.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Shura Council Speaker Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh welcomed the Crown Prince’s participation, saying the annual address reflects the Saudi leadership’s attention to the council and its role in the Kingdom’s national development.
Al Al-Sheikh described the Royal Address as a “national reference” that guides the Shura Council in carrying out its responsibilities by setting out the state’s priorities and directions.
He said the annual address has developed into a comprehensive national document outlining Saudi Arabia’s policies and priorities while reflecting the Kingdom’s rapid transformation. It also guides the council’s legislative work and efforts to improve institutional performance in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
Shura Council issued 555 decisions in second year
Highlighting the council’s performance during the second year of its ninth session, Al Al-Sheikh said the Shura Council held 46 sessions and issued 555 decisions covering government agencies’ annual reports, laws and regulations, and memoranda of understanding and cooperation.
The council’s specialised committees also held 376 meetings, attended by 331 officials from relevant government entities, to examine matters referred to the council and strengthen coordination with government institutions.
Al Al-Sheikh said these engagements contributed to improving the quality of the council’s work and supporting Saudi Arabia’s broader development process.
Parliamentary diplomacy expands
The Shura Council also recorded 135 domestic and international parliamentary engagements, including meetings, visits and participation in parliamentary forums.
The speaker said the engagements helped strengthen relations with other councils and parliaments and expanded opportunities for cooperation and the exchange of parliamentary expertise.
He also highlighted Saudi Arabia’s presidency of the current session of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU), saying it reflects the Kingdom’s role in supporting joint Arab action and promoting consultation and coordination on regional issues.
Al Al-Sheikh said the Shura Council would continue performing its legislative and oversight responsibilities while keeping pace with Saudi Arabia’s development and strengthening its regional and international parliamentary engagement.
