Pakistan Navy Seizes $750m Narcotics in Arabian Sea

Pakistan Navy ships PNS HUNAIN and PNS YARMOOK have seized more than 2,800 kilograms of narcotics worth approximately $750 million during a joint counter-narcotics operation in the Arabian Sea.

According to the Pakistan Navy, the two ships were conducting routine patrols in the Arabian Sea when they intercepted a suspicious boat. A subsequent operation led to the seizure of more than 2,800kg of narcotics, with an estimated value of around $750 million.

Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf commended the officers and crew involved in the operation for their professionalism and vigilance.

He reaffirmed the Pakistan Navy’s commitment to safeguarding the country’s national maritime interests, maintaining good order at sea and contributing to the security of the global commons.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also paid tribute to the Pakistan Navy officers and personnel for the successful counter-narcotics operation, praising their professionalism, vigilance and effective surveillance.

The prime minister said the Pakistan Navy’s operations against narcotics trafficking were commendable, adding that the force plays an important role in protecting Pakistan’s maritime frontiers and preventing illegal trafficking through sea routes.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also praised the Pakistan Navy for the operation and commended the professionalism and vigilance demonstrated by its officers and crew.

“I pay tribute to the entire team that participated in the operation,” Naqvi said, describing the Pakistan Navy’s efforts against narcotics trafficking as commendable.
