Saudi Arabia is celebrating its National Day on Wednesday, September 23, with festivities across the Kingdom as citizens and residents mark the historic unification of the country.

Riyadh is at the centre of the National Day celebrations, with Saudi flags and national colours displayed across the capital as the Kingdom marks one of the most important occasions on its national calendar. Celebrations and activities are also taking place in cities across Saudi Arabia.

Saudi National Day commemorates the 1932 decree through which King Abdulaziz announced the unification of the Kingdom of Nejd and Hejaz under the name Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The occasion is traditionally marked with official and cultural events, public celebrations and displays of the Saudi flag, bringing citizens and residents together to celebrate the Kingdom’s history, heritage and national identity.

National Day also comes as Saudi Arabia continues its economic and social transformation under Vision 2030, with major development projects underway across the Kingdom.

Saudi Arabia maintains close relations with countries across the region and beyond, while the annual celebration is also marked by Saudi diplomatic missions around the world.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share longstanding diplomatic, economic, defence and people-to-people ties, with Pakistani leaders traditionally extending greetings to the Saudi leadership and people on the occasion of National Day.
