A powerful nor’easter has battered the US East Coast, bringing strong winds, heavy rainfall and flooding, while emergencies have been declared in affected counties in New York and New Jersey.
According to US media reports, coastal areas were hit by winds reaching around 100 kilometres per hour, while heavy rainfall inundated residential neighbourhoods and brought down trees.
Vehicles were seen partially submerged in several feet of floodwater as severe weather disrupted daily life across affected areas.
Over 100,000 Without Power, Hundreds of Flights Cancelled
More than 100,000 customers were left without electricity, while the severe weather caused widespread disruption to air travel.
At least 445 flights were cancelled, while more than 3,000 others were delayed, according to media reports.
Authorities declared emergencies in affected counties in New York and New Jersey and advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel as hazardous conditions persisted.
