Pakistan Income Tax Filers Rise 45%, Tax Payments Fall 7%
The original deadline for filing income tax returns was September 30.
The number of people filing income tax returns in Pakistan has increased by 45 percent, while the total tax paid along with the returns has declined by 7 percent.
Despite the significant increase in the number of income tax return filers, the amount of tax deposited with the returns recorded a 7 percent decrease.
The figures indicate a substantial expansion in the number of taxpayers submitting returns, even as the overall amount paid at the time of filing remained lower.
The original deadline for filing income tax returns was September 30.
However, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the deadline until October 15, giving taxpayers additional time to submit their income tax returns.
