Mumbai police register case after firing outside Tiger Shroff’s residence
Police said Shroff was not hit by a bullet, but the circumstances in which he sustained his injuries remain unclear.
Mumbai police on Monday registered a case against three unidentified assailants in connection with a firing incident outside Bollywood star Tiger Shroff’s residence a day earlier.
The actor is recovering at his home in Juhu. Photographs released after his meeting with Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde showed bandages on his shoulder and chest, as well as a dressing on his right arm.
Police said Shroff was not hit by a bullet, but the circumstances in which he sustained his injuries remain unclear.
Five shots were fired shortly after 7pm local time near Pushpa Narsee Park, where Shroff reportedly plays football every Sunday.
His driver, Firdous, sustained a gunshot wound to his hand, while a passerby was also injured. Both are receiving treatment at a hospital.
Police suspect the assailants had closely monitored Shroff’s daily routine before carrying out the attack.
They fled on a motorcycle, which was later recovered outside Andheri West station.
Investigators have CCTV images of the two suspected shooters, and 15 police teams are searching for them.
No arrests have been made so far. The investigation is likely to be handed over to the crime branch.
The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for the attack in a social media post, a claim that police are verifying.
Shinde assured the actor’s family that their security concerns would be addressed and warned that Mumbai would not be allowed to return to an era of gang wars.
Police said Shroff had not previously reported receiving any threats.
