Iranian women are undergoing training in rifles, FPV drones, anti-tank weapons and ground warfare as the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Basij expand a nationwide mobilisation programme aimed at building civilian defence units, according to RT.

The training is being conducted under the “Janfada” mobilisation campaign, launched by the IRGC and the Basij militia in March 2026.

Female volunteers are being trained in weapons handling, shooting, FPV drone operations, anti-tank weapons, urban warfare tactics and first aid. At a newly established training centre in Tehran, participants are also learning weapons maintenance and repair.

According to the report, women account for around 32 percent of volunteers participating in the mobilisation campaign.

All-women Basij rapid-response units are also being formed in Tehran as part of a broader campaign aimed at establishing 1,000 Popular National Resistance Battalions.

Iranian officials have described the initiative as a voluntary programme designed to strengthen national resilience and expand civilian defence capabilities.

Footage from training exercises and public events has shown women participating in the programme, which is also expanding beyond Tehran into other Iranian provinces.

The mobilisation comes amid heightened regional tensions and uncertainty surrounding US-Iran diplomacy, with recent negotiations failing to produce a breakthrough and concerns persisting over a renewed military escalation.
