Indian Police Personnel Kills Four Colleagues in J&K
According to NDTV, the incident took place at around 6:40 pm at a CISF unit deployed at the Sewa Power Project in Mashka village of Basil.
A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel allegedly opened fire on his colleagues following an argument at a security camp in Indian-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district, killing four personnel, including an officer, Indian media reported.
According to NDTV, the incident took place at around 6:40 pm at a CISF unit deployed at the Sewa Power Project in Mashka village of Basohli.
NDTV, citing sources, reported that the suspected shooter, identified as Head Constable Avdesh Kumar Singh, allegedly entered the office premises and opened indiscriminate fire with his issued AK-47 rifle.
The four personnel killed in the shooting were identified as Assistant Commandant Ankit Kumar Pandey, Sub-Inspector Lakshman Singh, Constable Rafiq Ahmed and Constable Sandeep Kumar.
According to the report, the four personnel were initially taken to an NHPC hospital in neighbouring Himachal Pradesh, where they later succumbed to their injuries.
The CISF said the suspected shooter was carrying 150 rounds of ammunition at the time of the incident. His service weapon was subsequently seized.
Police reached the site following the shooting and secured the area. The suspect was arrested and handed over to police, according to NDTV.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting.
The Sewa Power Project is a hydroelectric power station located on the Sewa River, a tributary of the Ravi River.
