Women’s Mobile Internet Usage in Pakistan Reaches 45%: Ahsan Iqbal

Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal has said that the rate of mobile internet usage among women in Pakistan has reached 45%.
Addressing the Economy Forum in Islamabad, Iqbal said the number of digital users in Pakistan has surpassed 150 million, while data usage has increased by around 25% over the past two years.
He said the number of fiber connections in the country has crossed 5 million, while the government is targeting the expansion of wired broadband services to 10 million households.
The minister said the gender gap in mobile internet usage has narrowed to 8%, with women now accounting for 45% of mobile internet users in Pakistan.
Iqbal stressed that women’s participation in digital development is essential and said Pakistan’s IT exports have reached $4.6 billion.
He added that the country’s next target is to promote technology products, digital platforms and technology-driven industries.
