Pakistan has achieved a significant milestone in international maritime trade as Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) launched its Premium IPAK service, establishing a dedicated weekly shipping connection from Karachi Port to major European trade hubs.

According to an announcement shared by the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) on its official X account, the new service will make weekly calls at Karachi Gateway Terminal Limited (KGTL), providing Pakistani exporters and businesses with enhanced access to key European markets.

The development is expected to strengthen Pakistan’s maritime connectivity, improve access to international shipping networks and create new opportunities for the country’s export-oriented industries.

Karachi Connected to Major European Trade Hubs

Under the Premium IPAK service, MSC will operate a dedicated weekly liner route connecting Karachi with Colombo and several major European container gateways.

The announced shipping rotation is:

Karachi → Colombo → Felixstowe → Rotterdam → Hamburg → Bremerhaven → Antwerp → Le Havre → London Gateway

The service will connect Pakistan with major commercial ports in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and France.

These ports serve as important international logistics and distribution centres, offering Pakistani businesses access to extensive European transportation and supply chain networks.

The dedicated weekly connection is expected to provide greater shipping reliability and more predictable schedules for exporters transporting goods to European destinations.

Major Boost for Pakistan’s Export Sector

The launch of the Premium IPAK service offers significant opportunities for Pakistan’s export-oriented industries, particularly textiles, garments, leather products, sports goods, surgical instruments and other manufactured products.

European markets remain important destinations for Pakistani exports, making reliable maritime connectivity essential for the country’s trade competitiveness.

The new service is expected to facilitate cargo movement, strengthen supply chain planning and improve market accessibility for Pakistani businesses.

It could also support importers, freight forwarding companies and logistics operators engaged in trade between Pakistan and European countries.

Improved shipping connectivity may help exporters better manage delivery schedules and strengthen commercial relationships with international buyers.

Karachi Port Strengthens Its International Trade Position

Karachi Port Trust highlighted that the new service would further strengthen Karachi Port’s position as a vital gateway for Pakistan’s exports.

The weekly call at Karachi Gateway Terminal Limited is expected to enhance the port’s role in international container shipping and provide businesses with improved access to major overseas markets.

Karachi Port remains one of Pakistan’s principal maritime trade facilities, handling cargo for industries and commercial centres across the country.

The addition of MSC’s Premium IPAK service reflects the growing importance of modern container terminal infrastructure and international shipping partnerships in supporting Pakistan’s economic activity.

Strengthening Pakistan-Europe Economic Relations

The new shipping route comes as Pakistan continues efforts to expand its exports, diversify international markets and strengthen economic engagement with European countries.

Direct liner connectivity with major ports such as Rotterdam, Hamburg, Antwerp, Felixstowe and London Gateway provides Pakistani businesses with opportunities to access European commercial and distribution networks.

The service also reinforces Karachi’s strategic position in regional maritime trade and international logistics.

For Pakistan’s exporters and business community, the launch of MSC’s Premium IPAK service represents an important development in strengthening trade links with Europe and supporting the country’s broader export growth objectives.
