According to the judgment, Shafaq Aamir purchased clothing worth Rs7,000 from Khaadi’s outlet on December 20, 2025. She was additionally charged Rs30 for a carrying bag bearing the company’s promotional logo.
The Peshawar Consumer Protection Court has imposed a Rs25,000 fine on Khaadi Pakistan (SMC-PVT) Limited for charging a customer an additional Rs30 for a branded shopping bag, while also ordering the company to refund the amount and pay Rs25,000 in compensation to the complainant.
The judgment was announced on Wednesday by Nasrullah Khan Gandapur, Judge of the Consumer Protection Court, Peshawar, in Consumer Case No. 84/CC of 2026.
The case was filed by Shafaq Aamir, a resident of New City Homes, Peshawar, under Section 13 of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Consumers Protection Act, 1997.
According to the judgment, Shafaq Aamir purchased clothing worth Rs7,000 from Khaadi’s outlet on December 20, 2025. She was additionally charged Rs30 for a carrying bag bearing the company’s promotional logo.
Khaadi did not deny that the Rs30 had been charged for the bag. However, the company argued that it was not legally obliged to provide the bag free of cost and that customers could opt for a bag on payment of the specified amount.

The court, however, observed that the branded bag was being used for the promotion of Khaadi’s brand while its cost was being charged to the customer. The judgment held that, in the circumstances of the case, the company’s conduct amounted to an “unfair trade” under the relevant provisions of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Consumers Protection Act.
The court consequently directed Khaadi to refund Rs30 to the complainant, pay Rs25,000 as compensation to her, and deposit a further Rs25,000 as a fine with the government.
