OIC Condemns Houthi Attacks on Makkah and Madinah Region
The OIC stressed that any violation of the sanctity of holy sites is an unacceptable transgression that requires deterring those responsible and preventing anyone from attempting to infringe upon these sacred places.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) General Secretariat has strongly condemned the Houthi attacks targeting the city of Makkah and the Madinah region, calling the violations of the sanctity of Islam’s holy sites “unacceptable and intolerable.”
In a statement, the OIC said the attacks, along with the Houthi group’s ongoing aggression against Saudi Arabia, have instilled fear among innocent civilians, violated the sanctity of holy sites and mosques, and provoked the sentiments of Muslims around the world.
The General Secretariat said acts committed by what it described as the Houthi terrorist militia against holy sites, mosques and civilian infrastructure constitute terrorism and run counter to Islamic values as well as international norms, principles and law.
The OIC stressed that any violation of the sanctity of holy sites is an unacceptable transgression that requires deterring those responsible and preventing anyone from attempting to infringe upon these sacred places.
The General Secretariat also expressed its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and backed measures taken by the Kingdom to deter the attackers, protect the sanctity of holy sites and the lives of Muslims, and safeguard its security and sovereignty.
