Russian President Vladimir Putin met U.S. special representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Moscow as Washington sought to revive stalled efforts to end the war in Ukraine. Putin described the situation in Ukraine as difficult while saying continued contacts between Moscow and Washington were useful.
During the talks, Russia temporarily halted strikes on Kyiv, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy indicated that Ukraine was also prepared to pause strikes on Moscow through Monday. However, major disagreements remain over territory, NATO membership and the conditions for a broader ceasefire.
