Saudi Arabia, Region Faced ‘Brutal Iranian Attacks’: Prince Faisal

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan said Saudi Arabia and other countries in the region had been subjected to what he described as “brutal Iranian attacks”, as he addressed the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Prince Faisal said the world was witnessing unprecedented challenges and stressed that Gulf security was closely linked to global energy security and the continuity of international supply chains.

Saudi Arabia Backs Pakistani, Qatari De-escalation Efforts

The foreign minister said Saudi Arabia supported efforts by Pakistan and Qatar to de-escalate regional tensions, underscoring the importance of diplomacy amid heightened instability.

He stressed that protecting international navigation was a shared responsibility and said the Kingdom rejected the use of waterways as a “tool for blackmail”.

Prince Faisal called for the protection of international shipping routes, linking their security directly to energy markets and global supply chains.

He said Saudi Arabia’s East-West pipeline had helped reduce disruptions to energy supplies, while reaffirming the Kingdom’s commitment to global energy security.

Prince Faisal Condemns Houthi Attacks

The Saudi foreign minister also condemned Houthi attacks and said they posed a threat to security.

He called on the international community to reject Houthi practices and reiterated Saudi Arabia’s support for stability in Yemen and the protection of civilians.

Gaza and Palestinian Suffering

Turning to Gaza, Prince Faisal said the continued suffering of Palestinians and obstruction of humanitarian assistance constituted a violation of international law.

Saudi Arabia has repeatedly called for protection of civilians, unhindered humanitarian assistance and a political resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Prince Faisal’s address placed regional security, freedom of navigation, energy security, Yemen and the Palestinian issue among the Kingdom’s key concerns at this year’s UN General Assembly.
