GCC Ministers Discuss Regional Security Ahead of UNGA

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan took part in a GCC Ministerial Council Coordination Meeting ahead of the High-Level Week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry said Monday.

GCC Ministers Review UNGA Agenda

During the meeting, the ministers reviewed major issues and topics expected to come under discussion during this year’s UN General Assembly session.

They also discussed joint efforts and common positions among GCC member states on the issues before the assembly.

According to the Foreign Ministry, the ministers also reviewed current regional developments and their impact on security and stability across the region.

The meeting further focused on strengthening cooperation and coordination among GCC countries in dealing with ongoing regional challenges.

Saudi Arabia Reaffirms Commitment to Dialogue

Speaking to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Sunday, Prince Faisal said Saudi Arabia’s participation in the UN General Assembly reflected its policy of engaging with the international community.

He said the Kingdom would continue contributing to efforts aimed at supporting international peace and security, while promoting dialogue and mediation.

Prince Faisal described the UNGA session as an opportunity to reaffirm the principles on which international institutions, particularly the United Nations, were established.

Riyadh Calls for Respect for International Law

The Saudi foreign minister stressed the importance of upholding international law amid ongoing developments in the region.

He said this included respecting the sovereignty of states, seeking peaceful solutions to disputes, and ensuring the safety and freedom of navigation in international waterways.
